Party Spotlight: Against the Alterae

In a campaign about the broad constellation of concepts that we in the real world distill down to "humanity," the player characters necessarily become the lens through which we view it all. Kudos to the four players behind these characters. It's an honor to facilitate their story.

Ash

A late arrival to the party, Ash's first memories include waking up fully-grown in a fiendish prison dimension. As she desperately seeks insight into the events that led her there, she looks to the divine, whose fingerprints linger upon her unexplained powers. As do those of the Velstrac, the architects of her confinement.

Atreia Cinder

A founding member of the party as it stands, Atreia has endured a transformation of a different sort: what he perceived as a years-long hunt for a missing friend, which in actuality lasted mere days on his home plane. Warmth and generosity gave way to an all-consuming pursuit in which the ends justified the means, a fruitless effort until the very day he returned home. They are at long last reunited, but at what cost?

Kaizo of the Stewards

Atreia's co-founder and the object of the time-dilated search, Kaizo is similarly wise beyond his years. After volunteering himself as payment for Ash's freedom, the formerly insufferable lordling consigned himself to twenty perceived years of Velstrac ministrations before his path once more converged with that of his companions. How will he adjust after decades of "purification?"

Saturnius

The group's newest member, Saturnius is a mechanical warrior with the soul of an artist. He moves through a world filled with uncertainty perhaps more secure in himself than any of his flesh and blood compatriots, ancient as anything yet unshaken by the constant march of time.

Victory Valentine (Retired)

A former member still very much in the picture, Vic's road to respite was a long one. A church boy left for the war in Zaphis, but a grizzled veteran returned, patched together with plates and prostheses. After a prolonged bout with his pride and deep-seated religious guilt, he eventually found his way home, rejoining his family and reclaiming the life he thought he'd lost.
